Protect Your Transactions with Courtesy Pay Plus
When a member does not have enough money in their account to cover a transaction Winston-Salem Federal credit Union offers options to pay the transaction. Learn more about our Overdraft Protection service.
The credit union offers Courtesy Pay and Courtesy Pay Plus.
Courtesy Pay* is a service that Winston-Salem Federal Credit Union offers members to cover share drafts and ACH (automated clearing house) transactions up to the approved limit, which exceed a member’s available account balance. When a member does not have enough money in their account to cover a transaction, the credit union may choose to cover the transaction with funds from their own account, instead of declining the transaction.
Courtesy Pay Plus* extends Courtesy Pay to cover debit card, point-of-sale (POS), and ATM withdrawals up to the approved limit, which exceed a member’s available account balance.
For Courtesy Pay, or if the member has opted into Courtesy Pay Plus, the credit union will allow the transaction to go through and charge the member a fee for the overdraft for each transaction or withdrawal (up to the approved limit) that is paid.
Having Courtesy Pay or Courtesy Pay Plus on your account is not a guarantee that a transaction will be covered. The credit union may still decline a transaction if it exceeds the member’s available limit, or if the member has reached their maximum courtesy pay limit. Additionally, members should not rely on Courtesy Pay or Courtesy Pay Plus as a long-term solution for managing their finances, as a fee is assessed to the member for each transaction that Courtesy Pay or Courtesy Pay Plus covers.
*Members should not rely on Courtesy Pay or Courtesy Pay Plus as a long-term solution for managing their finances, as a fee is assessed to the member for each transaction that Courtesy Pay or Courtesy Pay Plus covers. It is the member’s responsibility to understand and comply with the Courtesy Pay program rules to remain eligible. Using an ATM to access funds will require that the member knows how much Courtesy Pay they have available. The balance shown through ATM, Online Banking, the WSFCU Mobile Banking App, and Voice Banking will not reflect the available Courtesy Pay amount.
