A Winston-Salem Federal Credit Union Individual Retirement Account (IRA) is a special type of account that permits members to save money during their employment years to cover expenses after retirement and to help with their children's education. The Credit Union offers three IRA products: The Traditional IRA, the Roth IRA and the Education IRA. Consult with your tax advisor on your eligibility to contribute to various IRA’s.
TRADITIONAL IRA
Enjoy tax deductible contributions and years of tax deferred growth.
Taxes are deferred until earnings are withdrawn.
ROTH IRA
Contribute after taxes and enjoy tax free withdrawals after five years.
Contributions are nondeductible.
May feature tax free withdrawals for certain distribution reasons after a 5 year holding period.
EDUCATION IRA
Distributions withdrawn from an Education IRA are tax free if they are for a qualifying educational expense. Cost can be for primary school, high school or college related expenses.
